Video Surveillance
SIA HobbySet carries out video surveillance in the store located at 100 Dzirnavu Street, Riga, as well as in the territory adjacent to the store, for the purpose of preventing and/or detecting theft, intentional destruction or damage of property and goods, and other criminal offences against property, as well as to protect the vital interests of you, its employees, and other persons, including health and life.

SIA HobbySet informs individuals about video surveillance by placing visual warning signs in clearly visible locations.

Legal Basis for Data Processing

The legal basis for personal data processing is:

  • Article 6(1)(d) of the Regulation, which provides that processing is necessary to protect the vital interests of the data subject or another natural person. For example, video surveillance helps prevent and/or detect criminal offences, ensuring the safety of the Controller’s employees, customers, and other data subjects present in the video surveillance area, and protecting their life and health.
  • Article 6(1)(f) of the Regulation, which provides that processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the Controller or a third party. For example, to investigate complaints regarding product quality, conduct inspections to improve service quality, or to protect the Controller’s property through video surveillance, including obtaining evidence in the event of a criminal offence, also for insurance purposes.

Categories of Personal Data

Categories of personal data include: image of a person and their actions (appearance, behavior), location of the recording (premises, camera location), and time of recording (date, time, start and end of the recording).

Data Subjects

Persons located within the range of video surveillance cameras (Controller’s employees, customers, visitors, external service providers such as waste collection companies, and other individuals).

Recipients of Personal Data

Video surveillance data may be disclosed to law enforcement authorities, as well as state and municipal institutions, including state security authorities, the прокуратure, and courts, upon request or for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims and for obtaining evidence, as well as to operational authorities, detectives, and persons providing legal, security, or other outsourced services to SIA HobbySet.

Transfer of Data Outside Latvia

Video surveillance data are not transferred to countries outside the European Union or the European Economic Area, nor to any international organizations.

Data Retention Period

The retention period depends on the intensity of recording (motion detection) and the storage capacity of the recording equipment. However, video recordings are stored for no longer than 2 months, unless the recording contains evidence of potentially unlawful activity or actions that may help protect the legitimate interests of SIA HobbySet or third parties. In such cases, the recording may be retained until the completion of the protection of the relevant legal interest.

Rights of the Data Subject

The Regulation provides data subjects with specific rights regarding the processing of personal data. As the Controller does not aim to identify individuals during video surveillance, when exercising rights under the Regulation (e.g., the right of access), the Controller may request additional information to identify the individual in the recordings (e.g., a photograph).

Due to the nature of video surveillance, some rights may be limited, such as the right to rectification of personal data.

In accordance with the Regulation, you have the right to:

  • access your personal data;
  • object to data processing;
  • request erasure of personal data (“right to be forgotten”) in cases provided by law;
  • lodge a complaint with the Controller and the Data State Inspectorate.

SIA HobbySet processes personal data in compliance with the Regulation and applicable European Union and Latvian legislation. If you believe your rights have been violated, you have the right to submit a complaint to the Data State Inspectorate or to a court.

Automated Decision-Making

SIA HobbySet does not carry out automated decision-making or profiling based on personal data obtained through video surveillance.
